How Women in Combat Pee, by the New York Times

This past Monday readers of the NYTimes were treated to an article on women in the military titled: Living and Fighting Alongside Men and Fitting In.
Sounds good right? And the item starts out nicely:

There is no mistaking that this dusty, gravel-strewn camp northeast of Baghdad is anything other than a combat outpost in a still-hostile land. And there is no mistaking that women in uniform have had a transformative effect on it.

Kiddy Warbucks--Obama's got Momma's credit card! wheeee!

don't try this at home kids

WASHINGTON (CNN) – In a wide-ranging interview set to air Sunday on CNN's State of the Union, one of President Barack Obama's most prominent Republican supporters says he is 'concerned' about the new president's ambitious agenda and the high price tags accompanying many of Obama's initiatives.
"I'm a little concerned," former Secretary of State Colin Powell says. "I'm concerned at the number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them."

The New York Times said NO to McCain op/ed without timetables; But Guess What...

Shipley on left

...Last week, the Times said this:

“We had hoped that the clear timetable for an American withdrawal would focus the attention of Iraq’s leaders. So far it hasn’t...”

FemiSex readers may recall that we were outraged by The New York Times refusal to publish an op/ed by Senator McCain last fall.

In Ross G. Douthat the New York Times has found another apologist for sexism

Don’t look for Ross G. Douthat to rid America of sexism
The New York Times kicked William Kristol to the curb and replaced him with Atlantic blogger, Ross G. Douthat. I have not followed Douthat closely b/c his items (often a sentence or two) feel too sound-bite bloggy to me; I prefer a more op/ed format.

But upon the news that he will be a new columnist for the Times, I did a quick check and found what I bet the Times needed to find before they hired him: a willingness to tolerate sexism because sexism is “the Parlance of our Times.”

From his RG’s Blog :

For God’s sake, don’t mention the Feminist word in movie review, unless of course you want to comment on women’s stupidity.

This year two films stood out as feminist movies—The Changling and Revolutionary Road. Both were period pieces, both looked hard at limited choices for women and what patriarchal society deems fit for women in terms of social roles, behavior and punishments when accepted behaviors are breeched. Yet, not once have I read a movie that gave serious consideration to the feminist aspect of either movie. Femisex has already mentioned that the New Yorker dismissed the issues in the Changling as “long-discredited”—that is, the injustice issued in the film to women has long since been fully fixed.

Obama's Massive Ego Needs Feed; and The Times attempts to salvage itself

fit for a King

This week Femisex wrote an item on the ego problems of the BSD mentality. Now here are 2 grafs from the Wed. Feb 4th New York Times culled from page A16:

Hours earlier, as his advisers huddled in the West Wing to shape a strategy for responding to the dizzying turn of events, Mr. Obama and his wife, Michelle, made an unscheduled stop at a public school not far away.
“We were just tired of being in the White House,” Mr. Obama told second graders at Capital City Public Charter School.

The New York Times vs. Gillibrand

by H. L. Trisky. Before her appointment by Gov. Paterson, the Times knew that Gillibrand would likely get the nod and it is amazing how quickly they worked to dismantle her. Seething over Kennedy’s (most likely forced) routing, the Times used these words to describe Congresswoman Gillibrand:

What we Talk about when we talk about Male Violence--Part 2

A while back FemiSex wrote about a New York Times story titled: “Losses Mount, Fears Overwhelm, a Life-Ending Decision is Made.” The Times article reported on economically despairing men who, before killing themselves, killed their families. I hope you will go back and read our article on this, b/c sadly, the media have again failed to make it clear that the problem in murder suicide is not going broke, fear or whatchmahaveit, but the idea that men OWN their families.
