A day after former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made her international debut at a Hong Kong investors conference, an Alaska newspaper apologized for a headline that ended up on the front page. Above a small photo of Palin near the bottom of Page One of Wednesday's Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, the headline read, "A broad in Asia." The headline was apparently written intentionally and was not simply an error.

Figures analyzed in a new Human Rights Watch report indicate that in Illinois roughly 80 percent of DNA evidence in rape cases, called “rape kits,” remains untested. Human Rights Watch’s exposure of this backlog inspired Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to champion a new law, making Illinois the first US state to require that every rape kit be sent to the crime lab for testing.

Oh this is a week to celebrate! Women winning in political elections is grrrrreat! Now let's check in with what women have to say about this week's political gains for women! First from The New Agenda: "A CLEAN SWEEP: Women Politicians Take the Night! In all five major primaries races where women ran, women won! One network called it: "Ladies Night!"

The New Agenda congratulates South Carolina's Nikki Haley*, California's Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina, Arkansas' Blanche Lincoln and Nevada's Sharron Angle for their primary victories (*may face a run-off on June 22nd).

On Tuesday night, CNN's Larry King had comedian Sarah Silverman on his program and, towards the end of the show, Silverman made a crack about whether Sarah Palin should pose for Playboy. Silverman said "I think she should go for it" and King responded, "Agreed."

The constant theme running through the Sarah Palin articles that have been springing up like mushrooms after a rainstorm since she burst on the national scene a year and a half ago, is: why do they hate her so much?
Well, we know why men would hate her - no mystery there. An embarras de choix in fact: -

misogyny: she belongs to a group that it is OK to hate;

politics: she belongs to the wrong political party/ideology (conservative);

elitism: she is white trailer trash and didn't go to Harvyale;

What do Feministing and Sarah Palin have in common? An intense dislike of Family Guy. Family Guy is Liberal Dude Nation at it apogee. They use every misogyny know to man, but racial slurs not at all. About a week ago Feministing complained about Family Guy's rape jokes and this week Sarah Palin complained about retard jokes.

Palin wrote that she'd asked her daughter what she thought of the show and Bristol's reply was "a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make about an issue that begs the question: When is enough enough?"

As democratic men drop out like flies --most recently Patrick Kennedy and now Evan Bayh, I have not yet seen an itty bit of vitriol from the Patriarchy Press calling these men quitters or idiots for quitting. When men quit there is a reason, when women do, they are dolts. Ah, more to come on that later. For now, I am betting that Bayh is thinking to unseat the King of Zero from his throne in 2012.
