God Bless A&E TV: they bleeped out the B word from Criminal Minds!Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 11:50 pm — admin
Folks, tonight we have something to celebrate! I am ecstatic! I got home around 7:45ish, flipped on the tube as I nuked a frozen thing to eat and started to watch a rerun of Criminal Minds on A&E. Now, get ready to toss your hats in the air Mary Tyler Moore fashion: A&E bleeped out the B word!!!!!!!!!! Not once but twice! At first I though my ears had deceived me: "son of a eeeP," ,but then again it came: a bleep as a thug was ranting B word against a woman..."that eep deserved it." I felt something amazing wash over me: respect. A network on television has made the decision to cancel out the B word from society and send a message to humans everywhere: women deserve the same respect that we afford to other humans. What can I say: I teared up! I left my frozen mac and cheese in the microwave and went up stairs to kiss my sleeping toddler. She doesn't know she was loved by a network TV this evening but I know, and I told her that perhaps if her mommy and daddy (and all other mommies and daddies) keep fighting the fight, perhaps she will grow up a world that does more than pretend to respect women. Now folks, I am going to ask you all a favor. Please! Please, Please! write/ Call A&E and thank them. Then forward this post to everyone you know so they can write A&E TV and thank them! This great and honorable deed must be acknowledged! http://www.aetv.com/global/feedback/contact.jsp?site=AETV.com&NetwCode=AEN |

Thank you on behalf of my
Thank you on behalf of my vagina. This is an important mini step to ending American tolerance to rape and sexual abuse of women.

There is NO video to substantiate the claims made by black members of Congress that anyone called them the N word. Without verification, it sounds a lot like race baiting to me. (Remember the male media reporter who said Palin supporters yelled "kill him" but the secret service said no such thing took place?) Race baiting sucks.
We know that Mr. Obama used race baiting to gain traction over Hillary. The media did as well. Many times.
What strikes me here is that Herbert is foaming at the mouth mad. The New York Times won't let him print the n word. We have it in print. So why do they allow the B word (even encourage its gratuitous use!) but prohibit the N word.
I have not heard a peep out of Herbert angry at foaming at the mouth TV and Newspaper executives who encourage societal use of the B word!
Herbert rails:
I did not once hear Herbert complain about his paper's policy of calling white women "white Bitches." This angry black man is not pissed off when liberals called Sarah Palin a slut or when Barack called Hillary the B word. Herbert didn't write about a foaming at the mouth David Letterman calling Gov. Palin the S word.
Herbert you suck.
It is totally great to see
It is totally great to see that so many women are fed up with the way our society has put them into the catagory of garbage.
And greater still to see us rise up and protest. Thanks to all.

I was watching "Criminal Minds" the other night and thought something had gone "bad" with the audio on my teevee !! I had experienced other "glitches" with cable lately. Thank you for pointing out this bleeping for what it was. I now plan on contacting A&E and saying thank you to them, too.

Thanks sister. It's up right
Thanks sister. It's up right now. This needs to be spread around. How very sad that we women have been so degraded in just a few short years that we have to be thankful for not being called bitches. The sexist symptoms have grown in leaps and bounds such that we have been moved back to 40 years ago. Stupak and the ensuing "executive order" alone should result in loud screams. Instead, we see tepid, toothless "press releases" from organizations that are supposed to be watchdogs. If all we have to depend on are these organizations, we are on our own.
Thanks so much for helping to
Thanks so much for helping to get the word out! I think if A&E hears how much we appreciate even this gesture it will help immensely! The FCC at one point felt use of the B word was taboo, but after the third wave came along and made it a perverted gesture of pride they rethunk their thunks. I have this on authority for a spokesperson for the FCC. They permit the N word and the b word so they say, but guess which one you won't hear on prime time TV?
We are thinking about trying to organized a teaparty sort of movement to get the FCC to place warnings on any shows that use the B, w, or S words. We need a good deal of time and money for this and perhaps in soon I can organized this fight to higher levels. I hope to get every women out their to rethink the "beauty" of the B word! I want Letterman audiences to bo when he calls women whores and sluts. Simply put women MUST demand respect from society!
Now folks, do read Uppity every day! She is most excellent!
Wonderful news. At least we
Wonderful news. At least we have one network that is listening to women and are showing us some respect!
Hi folks, I just got this
Hi folks, I just got this number: 212-210-1400
Also, if you send a message via the "contact us" link i gave above use
"Corporate/Programing" from the drop down menu.
I sent them a message that says: Thank you for your decision to NOT say the B word on your channel. This is a great sign of respect for women, and as I have young children who will soon be of age to view prime time TV, I most definitely direct them to TV stations that do not call women the B, W, S words. I find these terms as offensive as the N word. A&E TV has show great respect for all women of all ages with your decision to bleep out the B word. I hope that you will make this a public feature of A&E TV. Women everywhere will feel much better about having their children sit and watch TV with them when they or their female children are not belittled by misogynistic language.
Feel free to copy and paste this message!
Or, better yet, write from you heart! Let A&E know how it feels to be respected.
FANTASTIC news! I just sent

That's great! I sent them a message thanking them. It is really nice to hear about this success. It means a lot.
It makes me wonder about the behind-the-scenes when they were deciding what words to bleep. Did everyone agree readily that "bitch" would be a bleep or was this a big conversation?
At any rate, good news!
Yeah, to be a fly on the wall
Yeah, to be a fly on the wall for that discussion. I just sent a message with ribbons attached.
